Dr. Cherry serves as an associate professor and Vice Chair of Operations East for the West Virginia University Department of Family Medicine East in Martinsburg, West Virginia, where she contributes to patient care, academic advancement, and the effective operation of the department.
Dr. Cherry earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from West Virginia University and her Master of Business Administration from the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics. She completed her residency in family medicine at Harpers Ferry Family Medicine in approximately 2005 and later pursued fellowship training in Maternal Child Health at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, Illinois. Her multidisciplinary education has supported a career that combines clinical medicine, teaching, organizational leadership, and the development of future family physicians.
Throughout her career, Dr. Cherry has held influential roles in academic and rural medicine, including serving as program director for Rural Family Medicine until July 2025. Her professional contributions encompass clinical family medicine, medical education, departmental operations, and leadership within the West Virginia University Department of Family Medicine East. In recognition of her accomplishments, she received the WVU Women in Science and Health Mid-Career Excellence Award in 2016.
